4 Different Tile Options for Your Home

Tiles are good decoration materials for a home. They are easy to clean and you don’t have to consult any professional cleaning agency to help you out. There is nothing like a permanent stain because every form of stains can be taken care of using the right cleaning material. One of the advantages of tiles over other flooring materials is that it has a longer lifespan and can be used both for indoor and outdoor designs, especially now that we even have some Carreaux Metro wood imitation tiles. Tiles can also be used for designing walls in bathrooms, kitchens or any other area that needs a facelift.

There are various types of tiles and it is good to familiarize yourself with them before embarking on selecting the right tile for your home. The various types and the areas where they are best suited are outlined below.

#1:Porcelain flooring

Ceramics are used in making porcelain but they are fired at higher temperatures than ceramics. Porcelain is sold as full-bodied tiles or the unglazed form. They also exist in the glazed form and they are generally resistant to moisture and deep abrasion. Porcelain tiles can be used in the bathroom and areas like the kitchen where there is much traffic. Porcelain is seen as natural stone tiles but their installation is far easier than natural stones.  Recently, there are many types of porcelain that have similar looks with wooden planks. This makes them suitable for not only indoor décor but also for exterior designs.

#2:Ceramic Tiles

Ceramics have a long lifespan and they can also be used exteriorly and interiorly. They come in a wide variety of pattern, colors,and sizes and they can be used to complement any furnishings and décor. Although ceramics tiles can be used for floor and wall tiles, the ones used as floor tiles usually have higher abrasion resistance. Ceramics can be used for bedrooms, kitchen, lounges,and bathrooms.

#3:Natural stone tiles

These tiles are characteristic for their color integrity- it doesn’t fade. They come in different appearances as granite, slate, natural marble and travertine and they work well for outdoor designs. They are a little bit more complex to install than ceramics but they have higher durability and resistance to sun and rain provided they are sealed to prevent staining.

#4:Mosaic for décor

Mosaics are very tiny and are known for bringing color and texture to the walls of a home. They come in a variety of materials including natural stone, glass,and metal and they are readily available. They withstand cold and hot weather conditions which makes them suitable for kitchens and bathrooms. It is important to note that mosaics needs to be sealed to prevent staining.
